Rest

This is probably the most overlooked aspect of health.

With this world we live in, with both parents working in a typical family, and many single people trying to survive on there own, after paying the bills, caring for relatives, doing the washing and ironing, racing out to catch up with friends, old and new, buying the shopping and try to ensure that everything else gets done, there is no time to get adequate rest.

Hey!  I have managed to survive on six hours sleep a night!  What’s the problem?

The problem is that we do not get time to switch off.  To hit the ‘reset’ button and question whether their life is still on track.

Most people take a holiday once or twice a year, and typically they manage to calm down and start to unwind after a week or two.  Just when it is time to go back to work!

I have known a number of people in their 40’s and 50’s who for one reason or another have stopped working.  They have told me that it can easily take six months to calm down fully.

In my case, my life changed significantly over a year ago.  I am just starting to get enough rest, and to see my life more clearly!  I am very grateful for the ‘enforced rest’!!

We just don’t appreciate the pace of life we lead.

Well I am too busy.  I can’t take any more time to rest!

Have a look at the section of this site called ‘Your Future‘.  What is driving you?  Who is the Captain of your ship?

That flash new car you must have?  Your manager who wants you to do all his ‘dirty work’ for him?   Your ‘partner’ who would rather you run yourself into the ground as opposed to leaving chores undone and finding time for yourself?

Somehow, somehow, take time for rest.  Regular and sufficient.  The clarity you regain on your life will likely show you ways you can save time.  Maybe enough to do even more than previously!!

Sunsets

Whenever you can, stop and spend time to look at the beauty of the world around you.

Maybe my pictures of sunsets will give you a little inspiration
